PicoSeq SAS has been selected to present a poster at the 2nd Wellcome Trust conference on Exploring Human Host-Microbiome Interactions in Health and Disease, which will be held at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, UK on 8-10 July 2013. The poster, titled “Single molecule mechanical sequencing of DNA enabling rapid characterization of complex microbial populations” explored the use of SIMDEQ™ (ed : now MAGNA™) technology to quickly fingerprint individual 16S ribosomal DNA molecules from mixed populations of bacteria. Vincent Croquette, co-inventor of the SIMDEQ™ (ed : now MAGNA™)technology commented “we have calculated that by selecting a relatively small collection of oligos complementary to various regions of the 16S ribosomal RNA gene of bacteria, we can achieve excellent discrimination of a large number of bacterial species with a very fast and inexpensive high throughput test.”
