In September 2011, the lab of Vincent Croquette at the Ecole National Superieure (ENS) was awarded a €2.1m European Research Council grant for research surrounding DNA sequencing using magnetic traps. This grant is helping to push forward PicoSeq’s fundamental research, leaving the company to initially focus on commercial development of the technology.
